It is a light version without hydraulic block. The customer connects the front and rear brake lines himself. This is usually in demand for self-made or sidecar conversions, as the brake lines are not originally laid. The actual control unit is completely replaced by the Second life KIT light.
The device replaces the standard ABS III of the manufacturer FTE and is built into the motorcycle instead. It hydraulically connects the control circuits with the brake circuits, so the brake system works as usual without ABS system.
The built-in electronics ensure that all the electronic functions of the original ABS control unit are retained and function flawlessly. Brake light, tail light and speedometer/kilometre counter continue to function as usual. Various states can be programmed by the user for ABS warning lamps.
However, functions such as ABS, partial integral/full integral function, rollover protection, brake booster, etc. are omitted. However, the braking force is absolutely sufficient even without a brake booster, as these models were delivered without a brake booster as standard.
But you are always sure to have a working brake. A failure with low residual brake function or a malfunction, as is known with the original devices, is excluded. The unit is wear-free and thus ensures the long service life of your BMW motorcycle.
A further advantage is the weight saving of approx. 3.1 kg. So the original part weighs 4.6kg, our RH second life KIT only 1.5kg.
The installation location and connection of all cables and plugs is the same as for the original unit. Thus the backfitting to the original ABS device is possible at any time without large rebuilding expenditure.
The conversion is possible with all motorcycles, which were available at that time also without ABS to order. The device is also suitable for BMW trailer conversions (tricycles).
Admission / Exams:
The Second life Kit offered by us has EMC approval in accordance with TÜV certification no. 21064-1-1-R00. We expressly point out that the "General Operating Permit" expires with the installation in a corresponding motorbike with road approval.
The kit is therefore suitable for individual approvals with corresponding registration.
