RH SECOND LIFE KIT - THE RETROFIT KIT FOR BMW'S FAILURE-PROBLEM INTEGRAL ABS III
26. December 2025The RH Second Life Kit is a conversion kit for BMW motorcycles from the early 2000s, serving as a permanent replacement for the FTE Integral ABS III, which is known to be prone to failure.
It is installed in place of the ABS unit and hydraulically connects the control circuits to the brake circuits. This allows the braking system to function conventionally, as if the motorcycle had been delivered without ABS. (This was the factory standard at the time, and ABS was an optional extra.)
The RH Second Life Kit is an alternative to our complete overhaul of the ABS 3 system. The kit is particularly suitable for customers who do not require ABS functionality or who are looking for a cost-effective alternative to a complete overhaul of the Integral ABS III.
The RH Second Life Kit has been available since 2020 and receives excellent feedback from our customers.
ADVANTAGES OF THE RH SECOND LIFE KIT
Individual parts of the RH Second Life KitWith the RH Second Life Kit, the braking system is less prone to failure and offers improved modulation. Brake malfunctions, common with the unreliable original ABS, or issues resulting in reduced braking power, are eliminated. Braking force meets factory standards.
All electronic functions of the original ABS control unit are retained after the conversion. Brake lights, taillights, speedometer, and odometer continue to function as usual. Users can program different states for the ABS warning lights.
Another significant advantage of the conversion kit is reduced maintenance. The brake bleeding procedure required by BMW during servicing is no longer necessary. A simple brake fluid change is sufficient. The kit also reduces weight by over 3 kg.
The RH Second Life Kit is designed to be wear-free, durable, and thus ensures the long-term trouble-free operation of your BMW motorcycle.
A return to the original ABS is possible at any time – if desired – without major modifications, as the installation location, connection of all lines and plugs are the same as with the original unit.

Analog models (plastic connector): BMW R 1100 S / BMW R 1150 R / BMW R 1150 RT / BMW R 850 RT / BMW R 1150 GS / BMW R 1150 GS Adventure / BMW R 1150 RS / BMW R 1200 C / BMW R 1200 CL / BMW K 1200 RS / BMW K 1200 GT / BMW R 1200 C Mountaineering / BMW R 1200 C Independent / BMW K 1200 LT
The kit is also suitable for BMW sidecar conversions (three-wheelers).
The RH Second Life Kit is not compatible with the K 1200 LT model (model year...). 2000-2007) with the special feature of an electronic-hydraulic main stand.
CERTIFICATIONS AND ROAD LICENSE
The RH Second Life Kit has EMC approval according to TÜV certifications no. 21064-1-1-R00 and no. 21064-1-2-R00.
For our customers in Germany: To obtain the General Operating Permit (ABE) for your motorcycle after installing our conversion kit, an individual inspection according to § 19 of the German Road Traffic Act (StVZO) is required. The cost is approximately €200-300. Without an individual inspection, your motorcycle's road registration will be invalidated. We have a growing and increasingly comprehensive network of inspectors and partner workshops that can assist you with the registration according to § 19. Please feel free to contact us if needed.
For our international customers: In most countries, such as France, the USA, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, there is no impact on road registration. Inspection by a testing organization, as required in Germany, is not necessary in most regions. For the specific rules in your country, please contact the registration authority responsible for your area.
